Costa do Descobrimento - The Discovery Coast
 The Costa do Descobrimento extends from the southern coastal region of Bahia between the communities of Belmont up to Prado.
Costa do Descobrimento - Discovery Coast is the name of this picturesque coastal part. 1500 in Santa Cruz Cabrália the South American Continent was discovered by the Portuguese.
On the coast of Bahia the largest and most impressive Brazilian rain forests are found. This indispensable world wide still remaining Forest inventory, led the UNESCO to proclaim it World Nature Heritage. This Status is enjoyed by only few landscapes on earth, accordingly strict are the imposed obligations the inhabitants have to observe. E.g. on the entire Costa do Descobrimento you will hardly find a building with more than two floors and of course the nature preservation naturally has a high status. All this leads to the area having a sensitive and nature related tourism, far away from all hotel bunkers and multitudes of people.
From the little town of Belmonte up to Prado the Costa do Descobrimento holds many surprises that play with the emotions of those who visit the coast. It is the unblemished beaches, the enclaves, the steep coast and numerous rivers and brooks that make this through the green Coconut Palms and rain forest dominated landscape so unique.
